Four Years of Unity in Warrington: Celebrating the Hub’s Anniversary and the Vision of Ukrainian House UK

On Sunday, April 26th, under the bright skies of Culcheth, the Ukrainian community of Warrington gathered to celebrate a significant milestone—the 4th Anniversary of the Ukrainian Family Hub. This jubilee was more than just a celebration; it was a profound testament to gratitude, resilience, and community growth, serving as a vital platform to showcase the strategic initiatives of the International Center “Ukrainian House UK.”

Four Years as One Family

What began four years ago as a simple hand held out in support has flourished into a powerful pillar of strength. The Hub’s anniversary was filled with the warmth of a true home. From the sharing of traditional culinary delights to the excitement of the raffle and bingo, the day brought together families, volunteers, and friends. It was a vivid reminder that we are not just a community—we are a family.

A Bridge of Friendship with Local Leadership

A highlight of the event was the visit of Cllr Paul Warburton. His presence was more than a formal gesture; it was a reflection of the deep respect and robust cooperation between the Ukrainian community and British local authorities. Cllr Warburton expressed high praise for the social initiatives led by “Ukrainian House UK,” emphasizing how such synergy enriches the entire Warrington region.

Commemoration of Chernobyl

During the event, the community also paid tribute to the victims of the Chernobyl disaster, as the 40th anniversary approaches.

Speakers emphasised that this tragedy remains a powerful symbol of human responsibility and is especially relevant today in the context of nuclear safety threats caused by Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.

“Blood Solidarity”: Gratitude in Every Drop

A cornerstone of the event was the presentation of the “Blood Solidarity” initiative. This flagship project by Ukrainian House UK encourages Ukrainians living in the UK to become blood donors for the NHS.

“This is our gesture of gratitude to the people of Great Britain. We are not only recipients of support; we are ready to give back and save the lives of those who opened their doors to us,” was the message shared with the attendees.

Voices of the Community and the Magic of Song

The formal program was enriched by the insightful speeches of the directors of the International Center “Ukrainian House UK”—Ruslan Panchyshyn and Anatoliy Shalaiev. Following them, Volodymyr Kovalchuk provided a vital briefing on the blood donation process, guiding attendees through the practical and safe steps of donating within the NHS system.

The emotional heart of the celebration was the musical performance by the Duet “Dol-ya.” Their soulful songs, brought to the event by Ukrainian House UK, created an atmosphere of profound beauty and cultural pride that moved everyone present.

Words of Gratitude

  • The Hub Volunteers: For your unwavering energy, the wonderful food, and for creating a space where everyone feels welcome.
  • Olga Shalaieva: For her seamless organization of the translation services, ensuring that everyone could communicate and connect.
  • The National Lottery Community Fund: For their belief in our vision and their financial support, which allows Ukrainian House UK to scale our impact and strengthen the community.
