🌟 The Face of Solidarity: Cllr Paul Warburton Becomes Ambassador of the “Blood Solidarity” Initiative

When millions of Ukrainians were forced to flee their homes following Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022, communities across the United Kingdom opened their hearts to those seeking safety. In Warrington, one of the most consistent and steadfast voices for the Ukrainian community has been local councillor Paul Warburton.

Today, Ukrainian House in UK is proud to announce Cllr Paul Warburton as an Ambassador of the “Blood Solidarity” initiative — an international project uniting Ukrainian and British communities around blood donation, humanitarian support, and solidarity.

🇺🇦 A True Friend of Ukrainians in Warrington

Since Russia launched its full-scale invasion, Cllr Warburton has publicly stood with Ukraine and worked to ensure that Ukrainian families arriving in Warrington felt welcomed, respected, and at home.

One of the most powerful expressions of this commitment was his motion at Warrington Full Council, passed unanimously, which condemned Russia’s invasion, reaffirmed the town’s solidarity with Ukraine and all Ukrainians, and established the annual raising of the Ukrainian flag above Warrington Town Hall every 24th February — marking the anniversary of the invasion. This is now an official annual act of solidarity by Warrington Borough Council, a permanent commitment that the people of Warrington stand with Ukraine.

During council discussions and public events, Cllr Warburton delivered a message that resonated deeply with Ukrainian families rebuilding their lives in the UK:

“You are welcome here. Warrington is your home for as long as you need it.”

🤝 Ambassador of “Blood Solidarity”

Ukrainian House in UK is honoured that Paul has joined the “Blood Solidarity” initiative as an Ambassador.

The project promotes blood donation, humanitarian unity, and stronger cooperation between Ukrainian and British communities. Paul brings a uniquely relevant background to this role — as a registered nurse, a former academic who trained nurses, pharmacists and allied health professionals as prescribers, and as a former Cabinet Member for Health and Adult Social Care in Warrington, he understands profoundly the importance and life-saving power of blood donation. He also sees the “Blood Solidarity” initiative as a powerful symbol of humanity, compassion, and shared responsibility.

His involvement will help build partnerships between Ukrainian organisations, local authorities, healthcare institutions, and community groups across the region.

🩸 Together for Life

The “Blood Solidarity” initiative carries an important message: Ukrainians in the United Kingdom are profoundly grateful for the support, generosity and compassion they have received — and in return, they are actively contributing to their local communities through volunteering, charity work, cultural projects, civic engagement – and the gift of blood donation.

Ukrainian House in UK sincerely thanks Cllr Paul Warburton for his friendship, leadership, and unwavering support for the Ukrainian community and our humanitarian initiatives.

Together we are stronger.
