A Personal Experience of Blood Donation in the UK
A special part of the programme featured Anastasiia Shkuro, who shared her personal experience of donating blood in the United Kingdom.
Anastasiia spoke about the registration process, preparation for the donation, and the procedure itself. Donors can book an appointment online or through a dedicated mobile application. At the donation centre, healthcare professionals check the donor’s health, explain every stage of the process, and ensure that the procedure is safe and comfortable.
Anastasiia’s personal example shows that blood donation is an accessible and meaningful way to support others. One donation can provide vital help to patients undergoing surgery, receiving treatment for serious medical conditions, or recovering from injuries.
The programme also highlighted the importance of the Drop of Life: Blood Solidarity initiative, which raises awareness about blood donation and encourages members of the Ukrainian community to support the work of NHS Blood and Transplant.
