STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE

1.⁠ ⁠Make sure you are eligible:
– You are 17–65 years old
– You weigh over 50 kg
– You have been living in the UK for at least three months
– You have no temporary restrictions (recent surgery, infections, antibiotics, etc.)

2.⁠ ⁠Register online
England – https://www.blood.co.uk
Scotland – https://www.scotblood.co.uk
Wales – https://www.welsh-blood.org.uk
Northern Ireland – https://nibts.hscni.net
After registration, your personal “Give Blood” account will be created.

3.⁠ ⁠Book a convenient appointment
In your online account or mobile app, choose:
– the nearest donation center
– the date and time
– the type of donation: whole blood (most common) or plasma/platelets (where available)
If no appointments are available, turn on alerts, and the system will notify you when a slot opens.

4.⁠ ⁠Prepare for your visit
24 hours before donation: rink plenty of water,
eat well, avoid alcohol.
Documents: A passport is not required — your booking confirmation or SMS is enough.

5.⁠ ⁠At the donation center
The visit takes about 45–60 minutes:
– You will check in at reception
– You will fill in a health questionnaire (you can ask for assistance)
– A small drop of blood will be taken from your finger to check your iron level
-You will be seated in a donation chair
The blood donation itself takes 5–10 minutes.

6.⁠ ⁠After donation
– You’ll receive a drink and a snack
– Rest for 10–15 minutes
– Avoid sports or heavy exercise for the rest of the day
IMPORTANT:
Your blood test results (hemoglobin, infectious disease markers) will be automatically added to your
personal profile — you can check the health status of your blood!

7.⁠ ⁠How often can you donate?
– Men: every 12 weeks
– Women: every 16 weeks
