Yana is a remarkable and deeply inspiring woman whose story reflects courage, resilience and the enduring spirit of Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Ukraine, Yana dedicated her career to public service, working tirelessly to support people and contribute to her country\u2019s development. Following the outbreak of the full-scale invasion, she was forced to seek safety in the United Kingdom for herself and her son, escaping the devastation of war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Yana is the widow of a Ukrainian serviceman who gave his life in defence of Ukraine in March 2022. While such a loss is beyond words, Yana has transformed her grief into strength \u2014 moving forward with dignity, supporting others, and continuing to serve those in need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Today, Yana works for the NHS England<\/strong><\/a>, where she helps people every day. She is also an active volunteer with Sunflower Manchester, providing invaluable support to the Ukrainian community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Yana and her son, Damir, were featured in the documentary The Rising Sun, a moving story of maternal love, loss, hope and the remarkable capacity to rebuild life after profound hardship. In 2024, the film received the Best Documentary award at the Manchester Film Festival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n As an Ambassador for BLOOD SOLIDARITY \u2013 DROP OF LIFE, Yana embodies the strength of Ukrainian women, compassion, resilience and hope.
