Cultural Diplomacy and Solidarity: “Empowered” Project Presented in Liverpool Alongside AUGB Annual Creative Report

Liverpool became one of the first cities to host the presentation of the international multimedia project “Empowered”, initiated by the Ukrainian Culture Watch Association. The project is a continuation of the large-scale cultural initiative Culture vs War.

“Empowered” tells the world about modern Ukraine — free, strong, culturally rich, and capable of strengthening Europe and the wider world. Through art, music, film, and stories of outstanding Ukrainians, it communicates resilience, freedom, and identity.

Documentary Screenings at Capstone Theatre

The presentation of two documentary films — dedicated to renowned violinist Bohdana Pivnenko and the world-famous ethno-band DakhaBrakha — took place at Capstone Theatre.

The event was organised by KRYLA Culture – Community & Art Organisation in partnership with the AUGB Liverpool Branch, as part of the Ukrainian community’s key cultural event of the year.

AUGB Annual Creative Report: Tradition and Generational Unity

The event continued with a large and emotional concert programme — the Annual Creative Report of the AUGB Liverpool Branch.

Children’s and adult choir ensembles, led by Inna Ruzheva, performed a powerful selection of Ukrainian songs, offering a deeply emotional cultural experience for the audience.

A highlight of the evening was the performance by the traditional dance ensemble “Radisť`”, which impressed the audience with its energy and artistry. The performance was created through the collaborative work of creative directors and choreographers Olena Hrabchak (also the ensemble leader) and Max Cofie-Squire. Sound design and music support were provided by DJ Treexy.

Media Coverage: First Use of New Professional Equipment

This event marked an important milestone for the media team. For the first time, professional photo and video coverage of such a large-scale event was carried out using newly acquired studio equipment, funded through a grant supported by the Manchester Airport Community Trust Fund.

High-quality materials from the event will soon be published on official platforms.

Voice from Radio “Razom” and a Moment of Remembrance

During the event, Anatolii Shalaiev — host of the Ukrainian radio programme “Razom” on ALL FM 96.9 and Director of International Centre Ukrainian House UK CIC — addressed the audience.

He thanked the organisers and performers for preserving and promoting Ukrainian culture in the United Kingdom and called for unity and continued support for Ukraine. At his initiative, attendees observed a minute of silence in memory of fallen soldiers, medics, volunteers, and civilians.

Recognitions and Certificates of Appreciation

As part of the event, official letters of appreciation from Ukrainian House UK were presented for outstanding contributions to the development and promotion of Ukrainian culture in the United Kingdom.

Recognised individuals included:

  • Yuliia Ivanova — “KRYLA Culture”
  • Liudmyla Serhiienko — AUGB Liverpool Branch& “KRYLA Culture”

They were honoured for their professionalism, dedication, and leadership in delivering a large-scale cultural celebration.

“Blood Solidarity – Drop of Life” Initiative

Special attention was given to social impact and humanitarian engagement.

CEO-Director of Ukrainian House UK — Professor, military service member, and recipient of the “Golden Cross” award Ruslan Panchyshyn — presented the “Blood Solidarity – Drop of Life” initiative. The project is supported by the The National Lottery Community Fund.

The initiative calls on the Ukrainian community in the UK to become blood donors for the NHS as a gesture of gratitude to British society for its support of Ukraine. One donation can save up to three lives.
