Iryna Orshak Appointed Ambassador for the Blood Solidarity – Drop of Life Initiative

International Centre Ukrainian House UK is delighted to welcome Iryna Orshak as an Ambassador for the Blood Solidarity – Drop of Life initiative, supported by The National Lottery Community Fund.

Iryna is a qualified lawyer with extensive experience in civic engagement, community leadership and public initiatives in Ukraine.

After arriving in the United Kingdom in 2022, she became actively involved in supporting Ukrainian communities across the North East. She has organised and contributed to numerous cultural events, exhibitions promoting Ukraine, charitable projects, community gatherings and wellbeing retreats.

In 2026, Iryna founded and became Chair of the Ukrainian Community Group in the North East. The community-led organisation brings Ukrainians together through cultural activities, shared experiences and local initiatives that strengthen community connections while preserving Ukrainian identity, culture and heritage.

Through her work, Iryna promotes integration, supports community wellbeing and helps Ukrainians develop meaningful relationships and a stronger sense of belonging in the United Kingdom.

Alongside her community leadership, Iryna works at Newcastle City Council, where she contributes to innovation and efficiency programmes aimed at improving public services. She is also a member of a local Rotary Club, reflecting her continued commitment to civic engagement and community service.

As a Blood Solidarity Ambassador, Iryna will help raise awareness of the importance of blood donation and encourage greater participation in life-saving humanitarian action across the United Kingdom.

Her work reflects the values at the heart of the initiative: solidarity, compassion, active citizenship and support for people in need.
