The event was organised as part of the #BLOODSOLIDARITY initiative led by the Міжнародний центр «Український дім» у Великій Британії, in partnership with NHS Blood and Transplant and with the support of The National Lottery Community Fund.

Following the Divine Liturgy, community members gathered for a warm and informal discussion. The project representatives explained why regular blood donation is so important, how people can register and prepare for their first donation, and answered questions from those attending.

During the event, we met three potential new donors who expressed an interest in joining the blood donation movement. Every new donor has the potential to support patients who urgently need blood transfusions and help save lives.

After the discussion, we shared traditional Ukrainian treats with the community. This created a welcoming atmosphere and gave us an opportunity to continue the conversation, get to know local parishioners and discuss how the community could become further involved in the initiative.
Our sincere thanks go to Father Taras Khomych for his hospitality, support and help in bringing Liverpool’s Ukrainian community together around this important cause.
We also encourage Ukrainians and UK residents travelling to Ukraine to donate blood whenever possible. The need for donated blood for Ukrainian service personnel and civilians remains critically high.
Solidarity has no borders. One blood donation can save a life.
